$20 million investment was made for the purchase of three Gotwald Mobile Harbour Cranes takes Fiji’s Port operations into a new technical era with faster turnaround times resulting in reduced waiting periods and ship lay-up times as well as lower operating costs. The attraction of inviting gearless vessels to call into Fiji now is a reality.

Works commenced on this project in August 2006 costing $8million to add life to the wharf structure and provide seismic standard to the structure.

A $52 million investment into FPCL’s infrastructure was completed in May 2005 on the extension of Lautoka Wharf from 150meters to 300 meters; and the Rehabilitation of Suva Wharf and upgrading lifeline to seismic standard was completed in October 2005.

Reclamation of 20 acres of land area around Port of Lautoka has recently been completed at a cost of $9 million in May 2007, providing FPCL with critical land poised for future development inline with its strategic plan.

Upgrade and enhancement of the Port operations software in March 2007 resulted in FPCL’s container layout available electronically to its Port Control. All containers movements into and ex the Port is controlled by Port Control and viewed via a 72” screen allowing control officers to direct traffic, yard operators, forklift drivers into a cohesive logistical operation.
