Fiji Ports Corporation Limited (FPCL) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) signifying its commitment to adopting and upholding the anti-corruption principles underlined in the Corporate Integrity Pledge.

FICAC’s Corporate Integrity Pledge (CIP) is a commitment to five key principles, which are promoting transparency and ac­countability, strengthening inter­nal systems, complying with laws relating to fighting corruption and supporting FICAC’s anti-cor­ruption initiatives.

As the maritime gateway, linking the Fiji and the Pacific region to the world, FPCL is committed towards creating a business environment that is fair, transparent and free of corruption.

At the signing held at Muaiwalu House on May 31, CEO Vajira Piyasena said the most important part for FPCL was executing these principles and implementing them within the company.

“We have set up a number of supporting mechanisms prior to the CIP signing and we are thankful that this whole process has been supported by FICAC. This is an interesting journey to embark on and I believe that this is something that does not have to stop at any point,” Mr Piyasena said.

“As long as this organisation is here and the process is there, it will be an ongoing throughout FPCL’s lifetime existence. We will ensure that we will abide by it and we will do our utmost best to promote the intention of this declaration.”
