THE Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy Hospital Ship, Ark Peace docked at the Suva Kings wharf on August 2 for a one week providing medical assistance to the members of the public.
During her seven days stay in Port of Suva, the ship was able to provide medical treatment to more than 6500 people,
Ark Peace’s first visit to Fiji was in 2014.
Meanwhile, a special dinner was hosted on board the Chinese Research vessel Yuan Wang 7 in June for the Fiji Ports Corporation Limited and other shipping stakeholders.
FPCL was represented by Chief Financial Officer Roshan Abeyesundere and acting Chief Operating Officer Captain Laisiasa, accompanied by some senior staff.
Yuan Wang 7 is one of the seven ships used for tracking and support of satellite and intercontinental ballistic missiles by the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) of the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
She has been a regular at the Kings wharf in Suva to refuel and restock for the past years.
Yuan Wang 7s captain Zhou Yunshan said they were always thankful for the opportunity to refuel and replenish their fresh supplies after several months out at sea.
